Product Review: Cascadian Farm Organic Cereal

One thing I’ve always loved about eating healthy is the assortment of yummy cereals to choose from! There’s Kashi, Nature’s Path, EnviroKidz, and many more! They not only have the benefit of tasting yummy, but of course knowing that it’s “healthy” makes them taste better!

This morning for breakfast I had a big bowl of the following cereal, topped with fresh blueberries and drowned in some sweetened vanilla soymilk:

In the spirit of being totally honest- this cereal tastes like cardboard. Really, I’ve never tasted anything like it. The redeeming quality of this cereal is the textures. There’s flakes, soy protein twigs, granola clusters (sparsely), and some plain oats that float around in there. Once mixed with an equal amount of sweetened soymilk- remember, it must be sweetened- the cereal takes on the sweetness of the milk and is fabulous! It’s fun to eat.

This cereal:

  • easily soaks up flavors
  • has great textures!
  • is filling and satisfying from all that fiber

but

  • tastes like cardboard when eaten plain
  • contains too much sugar for my preferences

I give it a B-, and I’m a tough grader!
