Product Review: Cascadian Farm Organic Cereal

One thing I’ve always loved about eating healthy is the assortment of yummy cereals to choose from! There’s Kashi, Nature’s Path, EnviroKidz, and many more! They not only have the benefit of tasting yummy, but of course knowing that it’s “healthy” makes them taste better!

This morning for breakfast I had a big bowl of the following cereal, topped with fresh blueberries and drowned in some sweetened vanilla soymilk:

In the spirit of being totally honest- this cereal tastes like cardboard. Really, I’ve never tasted anything like it. The redeeming quality of this cereal is the textures. There’s flakes, soy protein twigs, granola clusters (sparsely), and some plain oats that float around in there. Once mixed with an equal amount of sweetened soymilk- remember, it must be sweetened- the cereal takes on the sweetness of the milk and is fabulous! It’s fun to eat.

This cereal:

  • easily soaks up flavors
  • has great textures!
  • is filling and satisfying from all that fiber

but

  • tastes like cardboard when eaten plain
  • contains too much sugar for my preferences

I give it a B-, and I’m a tough grader!

Yum Yum Yum

ok, I’ll admit, today’s lunch was a bit pathetic.

Trail mix granola bar, two deli slices of Havarti cheese, and two clementines.

Mehh.

We Live In A Beautiful World

… yeah we do, yeah we do.
I have that Coldplay song stuck in mah head. 🙂

I don’t remember what I ate yesterday.. ha! All I remember is my dinner: a peanut butter sandwich on whole wheat and two clementines. Afterwards I saw a movie with my 4 best friends. What a perfect day!

This morning… er.. afternoon- I woke up at 12:30- I made a lil’ pot of oatmeal for breakkie. I used one Quaker apple cinnamon oatmeal packet, and since they’re rather skimpy I added ~1/4 cup of plain oatmeal, and a splash of soymilk. Perfect!

So far this day is off to a great start. Could it be because I slept to Coldplay playing in my head last night? If it is, so be it.

😛

This Is A Journey

This morning for breakfast I had two slices of that cinnamon raisin bread and a huge mug of coffee with soymilk. Another day, another step in the journey.

I have to tell you, I was not happy with what I ate for the remainder of yesterday. It’s just so frustrating because every day I eat at least three days’ worth of food- around 4,000 calories- and yet I DON’T GAIN WEIGHT. My stomach has extra fatness, and I’m a bit bloated, yet I’m not gaining at the rate I should be, when I calculate it. If an extra 3,500 calories equals a pound, then I should weigh so much right now.

I don’t want to gain weight and that’s not my goal at all- in fact, I’d love to lose weight- but I’m just so confused… maybe if eating too much made me gain weight, I’d be motivated to eat more healthily. But I’m afraid if I eat less, if I eat the recommended 2000-2500 calories per day, I’ll lose weight or binge. It’s so frustrating. Basically I’m just a whiny lil’ unthankful bitch.

OUT OF RESPECT FOR THE KING OF INFOMERCIALS I ASK YOU TO PRESS CAPS LOCK AND KEEP IT ON FOR THE REST OF THE DAY. REST IN PEACE BILLY MAYS.

Making Progress

For lunch, which I just finished, I ate another piece of baked chicken and two slices of cinnamon raisin bread. It’s the Costco kind which means high calorie, but super yummy! Plus I think I can balance it out by eating healthy for the rest of the day.

Once I find my camera I can grace this boring blog with some food porn! Y’all ready! Ya better be! 😀

Heey

Heyy today is a good day!

Last night I spent the night at my friend’s house, and woke up to the bright sunlight shining through her thin curtains. It was great! She lives in the same city as me but somehow the sun is always brighter at her house! 😉 After we woke up we wandered through her mom’s garden and picked raspberries, eating a few, of course. Then we came to my house for breakfast. So far, here’s what I’ve eaten today:

  • small peanut butter cookie
  • piece of baked chicken
  • sh*tload of tiny strawberries
  • coffee w/ soymilk

Pretty balanced breakfast if ya think about it… ok kinda not. Oh well.

Annd…

Okay, so here’s what I ate for the rest of the day. About five hours after my monstrous lunch, I had dinner after all. Which consisted of:

  • a spicy chicken sausage
  • all natural frozen fruit bar
  • half a (small) canteloupe

Yes, I eat a lot. Yes, that’s why I started this blog. I’ll write everything I eat and modify my eating habits slowly and surely.

Have a great night everyone! 😛
